Rosas Rojas (Paute) Group's story

Rosas Rojas is a communal bank that was started several years ago. It is made up of nine women who are friends and acquaintances. The women meet once a month to talk about various issues and also to take a break from their daily routines. They are known to be friendly, kind and very charismatic. They live in Paute Commune, a place known for its exuberant beauty thanks to it fertile land where the most beautiful flowers are grown. Its beautiful landscapes are unforgettable and its people are very warm.

One of the members of this group is Sra. Maria Mercedes, who has been a member of the Rosas Rojas Communal Bank for two years. She is 49 years old and a single mother of four children, who are 29, 20, 16 and 10 years of age. Her oldest daughter is married and lives independently; her second, a son, works and helps her financially while also taking online classes on weekends; her third, a daughter, is a school student and her youngest, a son, is also studying at a school in the city. She owns her home, which is the fruit of her labor.

Doña María Mercedes works as a day laborer but only when acquaintances call her to perform some task. She also raises guinea pigs and owns cattle, which she milks for sale. She cultivates vegetables in her fields, which she sells, as well.

Her new loan is to purchase seeds for her plants as well as compost and a better quality of guinea pigs. Her goal is to expand her guinea pig raising business..

The two small photos are of three members who could not be present when this photo of the group was taken.
