A loan of $400 helped to buy grains.

Issifou's story

Issifou was born around 1969 in Gningoni. He is the father of five children and he lives in a nuclear family in Kadiolo (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali).

He has been selling grains for the past four years. Thanks to his experience in this field, he enjoys a good reputation as a seller and he receives orders for grains, particularly maize. In order to have the necessary resources to satisfy his customers' needs, Issifou decided to collaborate with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso. This is his fifth loan, and all previous loans have been duly repaid.

This loan will help him to buy two tonnes of maize and one tonne of millet. He buys grains from villages around Kadiolo and stores his merchandise before reselling it for cash. His customer base consists of men and women who come from major cities such as Sikasso, Bamako and Koutiala.

Thanks to this loan, Issifou is expecting average monthly profits to reach 90,000 CFA francs. He will use these profits to pay his loan's interest, and will invest the rest of the money in his business.
