A loan of $400 helped to buy seedling trays to use in the grafting process for cacao plants, and to buy organic fertilizer.

Abdon's story

Abdón lives in the Santa Rosa community. At thirty-seven years old, he shares his life with his partner Ruth, who is thirty-three years old. Together, with their effort and work pushing them forward, they have provided a good education with values and morals to their four children. He has a home constructed of wood.

He has worked as an organic cacao farmer since he was a young boy, since his parents and grandparents were also faithful producers of various crops. He has been an independent producer for thirty years, thanks to some land he acquired from owners who auctioned it off.

He feels very proud to be a great producer in this area. Thanks to the permanent support of Ruth in their different activities, they have managed to avoid hiring day laborers for various tasks. With all of their experience in the countryside, they are very capable in farming tasks, like planting, weeding, and pruning the cacao trees. They obtain good profits and make a great team effort that revitalizes them as a couple.

As part of a plan to replace the old cacao trees, he wishes to bring in plot grafts to take the maximum advantage possible from their crops. This requires him to count on urgent capital to buy seedling trays, an organic fertilizer made of sea bird dung from the Peruvian Islands, and to purchase the tools needed for the hard work ahead.

In general, the cacao plantations require a type of shade when they initially begin to grow. For this reason, he finds himself planting timber trees for shade. In the future, he hopes to sell them as blocks of wood. He already thinks this is a good business that he would like to get into.

He is requesting 1000 "soles" to buy seedling trays to use in grafting process for the cacao plants. He will also buy organic fertilizer, which is very essential for a quality yield.
