A loan of $1,150 helped a member to expand their businesses.

Sakina's Group's story

Sakina B. is a 55 year old lady. Her husband's name is D. A., who is 10 years older than her. Sakina is a housewife. Her husband runs a small canteen-like hotel. Therefore Sakina B. applies for a loan for her husband so that he would be able to increase his profit from his canteen.

She has been joined in her loan group by a few more members: Azmin B. who wants a loan to buy buffalo. Razia B. wants a loan to buy goats. Amina B. wants a loan to buy a piece of land. Razia B. wants a loan for her milk business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
