A loan of $1,025 helped to buy fertilizers and hire labor.

Luis Leonidas's story

Leónidas is 48 years old, married and has three children. They live in the community of Miraflores, Patuca, Olancho. His wife takes care of the domestic chores and also helps her husband on the coffee farm. Leónidas lived in the Paraíso area and would only come for the season to cut coffee and, little by little, he became familiar with it and to like everything that had to do with coffee growing. For more than 10 years now he has been cultivating his farm and today has his family reunited and has his own coffee plantation. Together with his children and his wife, they harvest and cut the coffee. The working hours are from 6am to 2pm. The advantage that Leónidas has is that the coffee is at a good price and has a high demand. Leónidas needs the loan that he is requesting to invest in the purchase of fertilizers and to hire labor. The only challenge that he faces are the different pests that harm the coffee, so he has to control them. His goal is for his children to be able to study and become professionals, and also to be able to have a bigger farm. This is the second financing that Leónidas has requested from FAMA and so far he has made his payments punctually.
