A loan helped a member purchase a variety of groceries to stock their business with rice, beans, flour and sugar.

Zanja Honda Group's story

The communal bank Zanja Honda is made up of eight members, seven women and one man. The President of the bank is Mrs. Verónica who is 26 years old and she has two children who are 5 and 14 years old and of school age. Mrs. Verónica sells a variety of items of basic necessity like groceries, sweets, sodas and a variety of other items from her store in her neighborhood that is located in the town of Zanja Honda, which is where the group gets its name. This is her second loan with the institution and Mrs. Verónica will use it to purchase a variety of groceries to stock her business like rice, beans, flour and sugar. With the larger stock, she will be able to offer a wider variety of products to her customers. She is asking for this loan to improve her business. Mrs. Verónica will use the earnings to continue purchasing products and this will improve her income. Her wish is to have a larger space to be able to offer a better service to her customers. Mrs. Verónica is a hard working person and she is happy for the opportunity that she has been offered because her partners in the group, in many cases, are people that get their families ahead all alone.
