La Florida, Chile / Clothing Sales

A loan of $750 helped purchase clothing and a tricycle.

Ruth's story

Ruth is part of the communal bank "Frutos del Progreso," that is part of the community of La Florida, located in the city of Santiago. She has sold clothing for ten years. She began working on market days, moving her merchandise on a tricycle on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, offering all kinds of clothing for men and women. Her working schedule is made up according to her availability. She needs merchandise for her business and she purchases it from different locales where they offer different styles, sizes and also underwear at low costs, or at least reasonable prices.

This loan will help her purchase clothing and a tricycle.

One of the goals that Ruth has is to be able to purchase a truck that she can use to sell her clothing more comfortably because she can no longer continue as she has due to her hip that is very delicate and she will also be able to purchase clothing more easily and carry it in her truck.

Ruth lives with one child who works. Her dream is to adapt a space in her home to locate her business and not have to work anymore on market days. She is very happy and thankful for the opportunity that Fondo Esperanza has offered her since it has allowed her to invest in her business. She also feels very comfortable with the company and the other members of her bank. They all have different activities and interests, which serves as a moment of distraction for her. She respects the training that is shared at the meetings and has learned how to administer her business in a better way.

La Florida is a community located in the Southeast of Santiago, capital of Chile. The population is very diverse and represents all sectors of society (upper class, upper middle, middle and lower middles classes). The area has an active commercial life which is evident in the existence of a variety of business centers. It is an area that has seen an explosive population growth in recent years.
