A loan of $875 helped a member to buy fertilizer and insecticide.

Sokha's Group's story

Sokha is a villager from the Moung Russey district of Battambang province, where rice farming is a common enterprise for villagers. He is 33 years old and a father of two sons. Like his neighbors, he does rice cropping to overcome his family's daily hardships. Rice farming has been his only business for eight years, and it earns him about 27,800 Cambodian riels (KHR) per day.

Sokha's Group consists of five members, four female and one male, and Sokha is the group's leader. This is his fourth loan cycle. He has paid back his loan with success, relieving his family burden and improving the family's livelihood. The total loan amount for the entire group is 3,500,000 KHR. Sokha will spend his portion, 300,000 KHR, to purchase fertilizer and insecticide. He hopes to double his yield and sell his rice crop at a high price so that he can earn more income to sustain his living conditions.
