A loan of $725 helped to buy poultry manure.

Gilbert's story

Gilbert, 28, lives with Judith. They have two minor children who are in elementary school. He makes a living in agriculture, the source of their income. He grows potatoes on a 1.5-hectare plot of land in the community of Liquintaya, and rotates the plantings. Gilbert has a lot of experience in this job.

They live in a rural community, Liquintaya, 56 kilometers from the city of Cochabamba, so it's very difficult for them to get to the banks for a loan. In addition, the banks have a lot of requirements.

Gilbert says they needed money urgently to buy agricultural supplies, organic manure (poultry). They loaned their savings to his brother to build his own house, because the brother was living in his mother-in-law's house with various other people, so it was not comfortable living in a strange house.
