A loan of $1,000 helped to buy sand and cement, and pay a builder, as they are repairing their house.

Ana Bertila's story

Ana is 34 years old. She is a widow and lives with her mom and 3 daughters. She is a very hardworking and responsible person. She works as an employee in a bakery where she makes bread. As it is quite busy at work she has to leave the house very early in the morning, and gets home late. This is her daily routine.

Ana feels that, although it is hard and heavy work, she has to get used to it and to adapt because this is the only way she can sustain her family. She is a single mother and so it is her responsibility to provide for her daughters, along with her mom, as the father of her girls died a long time ago. She walks to work, which takes 20 minutes. To arrive at the bakery at the right time she has to get up early, and she must leave her mother to look after the household chores.

The loan she is requesting is to buy sand and cement, and to pay a builder, as they are repairing their house. They have run out of materials to continue the work, which they have put a lot of effort into until now. Her first priority is to be able to buy the materials she needs. In this way she can finish the work on the house quickly.

With the loan their lives will improve enormously, because Ana will be able to finish the repair work on the house. Then their home will be a more comfortable and pleasant place for herself, her mother and her daughters to live.

In the future she wants to continue to work hard. She wants to give her daughters the education she could not have because she had to work from a young age. She wants her daughters to have a better life. She hopes that they will become hardworking and respected women; capable of doing work, no matter how hard the job is, as she has done herself up to now and will continue to do so.
