A loan of $3,050 helped a member to increase stock to resell in her genge (grocery hut).

Malengo Group's story

Christina, who is in her late 30s, is married with two children who go to school. For one year now, Christina has earned a living by running a genge (a grocery hut) business, selling fruits and vegetables. She works from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and she is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be her second loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to buy the missing genge items, covered household expenses and has paid back all her loan successfully. She requests a loan to increase genge stock to resell. Her dream is to one day be able to build a house.

She will share this loan with her loan group, "Malengo," which totals 15 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.

In this group: Christina, Grace, Lilian, Jackson, Sofia, Jackson, Mary, Chacha, Beatrice, Judith, Mwanaarafa, Peter, Fortunata, Yusuph, Flora
