A loan of $500 helped a member to buy fertilizer and buffalo.

Ith's Group's story

Ith is 53 years old and lives in a rural village of the Kror Kor district. She has seven children, one of whom is a dependent and still in school. Ith has made a living as a rice farmer for thirty years, and her husband makes palm juice in the local area to earn additional income. Together, they can earn about 30,000 KHR per day and manage to save about 13,000 KHR each day after off-setting daily expenses. Ith’s group consists of two female members. This is Ith's third loan, and her co-member’s first loan with VisionFund. Her past two loans, which she repaid, have helped her to acquire enough household supplies for her family. Now she is leading her group to seek a loan 1,000,000 KHR each, and will use her portion to buy fertilizer for her land and buffalo for her farming business. She hopes to get a high yield from her paddy field so as to improve her standard of living and keep her child in school.
