A loan of $100 helped a member to buy materials for construction of a sanitary bathroom.

Saroen's Group's story

Saroen resides in a rural area of the Battambang Province’s Bovel district, Cambodia. She is 43 years old and married with four children, three of whom are dependent on her and still in school. To support her family, she has been involved in raising pigs for ten years. The current business earns her family around 20,000 KHR per day and allows her to save about 10,000 KHR every day for future needs.

Saroen’s group consists of two members who have been with VisionFund for three cycles and completely paid back the loans. Saroen has wisely used the loans to better support her family with enough food, as well as supporting her children’s education. Now she is leading her group to seek for a loan. Saroen will use her portion to buy materials for construction of a sanitary bathroom (such as a toilet), tile drainage, and sewage. She hopes this loan will enable her family to have a sanitary bathroom to improve their standard of living.
