A loan of $1,075 helped to buy clothing, shoes, wallets, perfume, creams and other products for her beauty and grooming business.

Nuvia Aidee's story

In the city of Portoviejo, capital of Manabí, known for many years as the city of the Royal Tamarind Trees, the communal bank “Damas Al Poder” meets twice a month.

Nuvia lives here. She is 41 years old, a single mother of 4 children, ages 20, 15, 14, and 11 years old. The oldest has begun university and the three youngest attend school. All of the children still live with her. Some years ago she took a course in which she learned beauty and grooming.

Nuvia is a very good mother who in order to have her own resources and continue raising her children works selling clothing through the Yanbal catalog (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and accessories for women), shoes, wallets and various other items. She also does nails, dyes and cuts hair at their home or her home. While doing her work she offers her products and leaves them on credit and collects each week. She has been doing this for more than 9 years and is doing very well, and this is how she has raised her children on her own.

This loan is to buy clothing, shoes, wallets, perfume, creams and other products to sell. She has been with the communal bank for six years and she likes it because of the benefits the institution offers.

Her dream is that her children become professionals.
