Maria's story

46-year-old María is a hard-working, very responsible woman. She is married to Edwin and the couple have two children who are 11 and 14 years old. María lives in her own home together with her whole family including her father, who shares her constant struggle to maintain the peaceful life they lead.

María's business is selling basic household products retail, including rice, sugar, milk, bread, eggs, oil and vegetables. Her business is in her home which is located on a corner of the main avenue in her district. She serves in her shop every day, full time, and has been in this business for five years. At first, she had her father's help but now the business is hers alone and she receives help from another lady on occasions when she needs to go out and do other things. What María likes about her work is that she has time to carry out other activities. Fortunately, her business is doing very well. She always has customers because of the range of products she sells and because hers is the only grocery store in her neighborhood. She hopes to be able to continue developing and growing her business.

This is María's 9th loan from MFP. She is grateful to all the people who give her the loans she needs to increase her working capital. She will use the 1,000 soles she has requested to buy merchandise to sell in her store. She will buy candies, rice, sugar, bread, eggs, milk, oil, vegetables, etc.
