A loan of $575 helped to buy insurance for her vehicle and to refurbish another motorcycle taxi, buying some spare parts that it needs.

Lucia's story

49-year-old Lucía is a very modest and responsible person. She is a very courageous and hard-working woman who has the strength to keep moving forward even though she is a single mother with a 25-year-old daughter. Lucía has her own home which she currently shares with a friend and her friend's two young children as her own daughter lives independently elsewhere.

Lucía's business is renting out a motorcycle taxi. She has a vehicle that she bought some years ago. Every day a driver, who drives her vehicle through the main streets of the city, comes to her house and pays her a sum of money which she uses to cover some of her household needs. Lucía has been in this business for five years. In addition, she also has a business buying and selling chickens. She uses her motorcycle taxi to transport her goods when she receives orders from remote areas.

Right now, Lucía enjoys renting out her motorcycle taxi because it allows her to devote her free time to doing other work which improves her income. She feels happy with everything that she is accomplishing and hopes, in the future, to create a formal business from the two jobs she does.

This is Lucía's fourth loan from MFP. She is very happy with the financial support that she is receiving as she feels certain that she will make progress in her work.

Lucía will use her 1,500 soles to take out insurance for her vehicle. She will also refurbish another motorcycle taxi, buying some spare parts that she needs for it to work properly.
