A loan of $1,150 helped to buy oils, rice, vegetables, tubers, condiments, meat and other products.

Ines's story

Inés, 47, is a cheerful, dynamic woman who lives with her common-law husband and 11-year-old son in their own home. She works every day to provide her son with all she can and give her mother a better quality of life. Inés has a food stall at the busy city market where she sells delicious regional dishes such as baked fish, chorizos, chicken and other Peruvian food such as chili pepper chicken, sauteed beef tenderloin, and chicken and rice.

She starts work very early in the morning and ends her day at 3:00 p.m. She has been in business for over seven years with the unconditional help of her husband. She also has another stall next door, run mainly by her husband, where she sells decorative trimmings. She helps out there when she is not busy at the other stall.

What she enjoys about her work is that she can earn a living cooking, which she has always loved to do ever since she was a child. It provides a good income to help cover household expenses and give her family basic comforts.

This is her eighth loan through MFP and she is very grateful for the opportunity and financial support she needs to get ahead. She will use the 3,000 PEN to buy ingredients and supplies to prepare her stews, such as oils, rice, vegetables, tubers, condiments, meat and other products. Part of the money will also be used to buy different decorative items for the Christmas season to sell at the other stall.
