A loan of $2,275 helped a member to buy stands for her food business.

Las Nuevas Amigas Group's story

Sara is one of the members of the group "Las Nuevas Amigas" (The New Friends). Sara is single and has two children, ages 10 and 5. Both are in school. She is the only support for her household, and she began her business with the goal of generating income for her family. Sara is in the food business. She sells "anticuchos" (skewered, grilled meat, usually beef hearts) from a stand that is located in a commercial center. She has been in this business for three years, and it is going very well for her. Her work takes her twelve hours a day, in which she serves approximately 60 diners who come to her business. Sara feels proud because her work allows her to pay for the education and basic needs of her children. With the money from the loan, she will be able to set up her business in other locations by buying more stands. Thanks to the loans that EDAPROSPO has granted her, she has overcome a lot. Her biggest dream in life is to have a chain of anticucho stands and work with her sisters. Sara is grateful for the support of the Kiva investors! She is wearing blue pants and a black sweater.
