Action Group's story

Meet the members of the “Action” group from Makeni, a city in Northern Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, to apply for a loan of 500,000.00 Sierra Leonean Leones for each. With the help of this loan, they will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales and consequently improve their living conditions.

Sento is the leader of this group. The 25 year old is married to a house builder, and they have 2 children. Sento has been a businesswoman for 4 years, and she sells cooked rice with delicious sauce.

With her share of this loan, she is going to buy cooking ingredients like uncooked rice, palm oil (the most popular cooking oil), tomatoes, onions, etc. in bulk. With these items at hand, she will be able to cook a larger quantity of rice and sauce for sale.
