A loan of $325 helped to purchase a mobile phone, solar charging set, and weighing scale so that he may provide vital farming information to his community.

Eliab's story

Eliab is 26 years old. He is married and has three children. He and his wife earn their income through the sale of crops and livestock. They grow maize, beans, cassava, and bananas. They keep goats and chickens. They also own a small shop where they sell commodities.

Eliab looks forward to becoming a Community Knowledge Worker (CKW). As a CKW he will use the materials in his business-in-a-box (smartphone, solar charging set, and weighing scale) to disseminate vital agricultural information to the other members of his village, helping them to improve their crop yields and to increase their incomes.

With the additional money that he will earn as a CKW, Eliab will save to buy more land so that he can begin grazing cows. He dreams of seeing all of his children attend university.
