Djiguisseme Group's story

The women of the Djiguisseme group, which is made up of married women and widows, are of an average age of 35. They have an average of three children each and all live in extended traditional families in Konobougou, in the Ségou region (in the fourth administrative region of the republic of Mali)

They met through family ties, neighbourhood activities, and friends. They sell vegetables, tubers, and condiments.

The women of the Djiguisseme request their eighth loan.

Bintou who is the first on the left in the row that is sitting down, plans to buy five baskets of tomatoes from the salesmen in Konobougou, to sell to customers in Bamako.

She hopes to make an average monthly profit of 30 000FCFA which she will use for her family's needs and part of which she will re-invest in her tomato retail business.
