A loan of $325 helped to purchase a mobile phone, solar charging set and scale so that he can provide vital farming information to his community.

Bwogi's story

Bwogi is 29 years old. He is married and has three children. He and his wife earn their income through the sale of crops and livestock. They grow maize, beans, cassava, passion fruit, bananas, sweet potatoes and pineapples. They keep chickens and pigs. They also earn money by producing and selling charcoal and bricks.

Bwogi looks forward to becoming a Community Knowledge Worker (CKW). As a CKW he will use the materials in his business-in-a-box (smartphone, solar charging set and scale) to disseminate vital agricultural information to the other members of his village, helping them to improve their crop yields and to increase their incomes.

With the additional money that he will earn as a CKW, Bwogi will grow his farming business. He has set the following five-year-goals for himself:
1. to start a cattle rearing business
2. to start a poultry rearing business
3. to offer agricultural warehousing services to his village
4. to launch a water sanitation project in his village
