Josephine's story

This is Josephine. She is 44 and a resident of Manila, Philippines. She is married to Macario, a porter, and a mother to her children. She manages her household while operating the business. At this time, she is working hard to continually provide income for their everyday expenses.

Josephine operates a buy and sell business. What she basically does is buy general merchandise from wholesalers and sell them with a little profit. Her products are men and women’s clothes and other products of the like. Customers are attracted to buy due to the low selling prices and the many options she offers. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of 300 Philippine Pesos (PHP) in sales every day.

To help her continue the operations of her business, she is requesting a PHP 50,000 loan. She will be utilizing the loan to buy ready-to-wear products and merchandise items like jackets, polo shirts, blouses, shirts and other products to expand her product inventory. She expects a boost in her business income as she expands her business.

Josephine hopes to be able to expand her business and dreams to have their own house. She faithfully meets up with her co-fellowship* members to share stories of her work every week and where she can also draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God she studies.

* All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and repay micro finance loans.
