A loan of $550 helped to buy pearls, beads, synthetic chord and other materials.

Sara Susana's story

Sara is participating in her third loan from the communal bank, Medio Ejido. She lives in the city of Cuenca which they call Santa Ana de los 4 Ríos. It has both colonial and modern architecture and its people still maintain their culture and traditions from their towns. They are friendly, peaceful and they always keep smiling in spite of adversity.

Sara is 33 years old, she is married and the fruit of this union is 3 children who are 14, 10 and 6 years old. Her first child studies in high school and her other children study in a small school in the city. Her husband works as a mason. The house that they live in is rented.

Sara works creating artisanal crafts which she learned how to make in a class. She makes wallets, bracelets, earrings, etc. which she sells throughout the city. She has worked on this activity for three years.

She will invest her new loan in purchase of pearls, beads, synthetic chords and other materials to make her wallets.

Her goal is to own her own home.
