A loan of $625 helped to buy sweets, stationary, phone cards, and materials to make linens.

Custodia's story

Custodia is a multifaceted woman. At every time of year, she has different products that she sells according to the seasons. In the months leading up to December, she makes dolls and linen products with her sewing machine for the Christmas season; during carnivals, she makes products associated with each festival, and so on.

She also has a corner store where she sells multiple goods, like women's accessories, clothing, footwear, and stationary products, and she also offers a copying service, pay phones, etc. She began this enterprising idea in 2009, hoping to add more income to cover the family expenses, which had, until then, only been supported by her spouse.

Her main customers are her neighbors and other members of the community who find, in addition to her thankful attention and fun personality, everything they need in her store.

She makes her cash sales during the twelve hours that she works every day. She needs to grow her income by responding to her clientele.

She is currently applying for a Kiva loan. This is her first financing with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, and she will use it to buy sweets, stationary, phone cards, and materials to make her linens. With her Kiva loan, she will respond to the most beautiful season of the year: Christmas, the time when there is a lot of money rotation and families prepare to have decorations for this season. It is quite certain that they will find what they're looking for in Custodia's corner store.
