A loan of $325 helped purchase cloth, thread, zippers, and general supplies for making clothing.

Janny De Jesus's story

Janny is 24 years old and proprietor of a clothing-making business, a skill he learned from his father who has operated a tailor shop from his home for many years. Some 3 years ago, Janny became independent and acquired his own machines, with which he fulfills clothing contracts for various customers. He has made outstanding progress while working with considerable enterprise while receiving help from the Fundacion Mario Santo Domingo, where he received 4 loans for expanding his work infrastructure. He bought new machines and improved the quality of his products.

At present, Janny is applying for his 1st Kiva loan and will buy cloth, thread, zippers, and general supplies for making clothes. The end-of-the-year season is approaching when, usually, sales increase.

The greatest challenge in this type of business is the lack of necessary capital at the end of the year. For this reason, Janny hopes that with this injection of capital through a Kiva loan, he can once again expand his business and augment his income and, at last, improve his residence and raise his standard of living.
