Kenema, Sierra Leone / Timber Sales

A loan of $950 helped to buy more timber.

Memuna's story

This is 43 year-old Memuna. She is married and has 3 children aged 18, 15, and 11. In 2007, she established her timber business to enhance her independence, and it is now one of her sources of income. Her customers are both men and women. Working 7 days a week and 10 hours a day, she earns about SLL 750,000 every month from this business. She would like a loan in the amount of SLL 4,000,000. Memuna has already received and successfully repaid 3 loans, and now requires a new loan in order to buy more timber. She hopes that this loan will enable her to buy even more stock. In the future, she plans to own a timber processing business, to educate her children and to own a house. She appreciates the support she is receiving from kiva.
