A loan of $1,475 helped to buy ingredients.

María Alexandra's story

The 4th of November Communal Bank meets every 15 days in Los Bajos de Montecristi, a city known for its great diversity of traditional products, such as straw hats that are known across the country and abroad.

This is where María lives. She is 42 years old, has been married for 15 years and has three children from her relationship, who are 17, 15 and 13 years old. They are all in high school. Her husband is a merchant.

María started a business many years ago in order to help her husband with their family's expenses, because what he earned was not enough to cover everything. She has a small dining room in her house where she prepares delicious dishes. She works every day from six in the morning until three in the afternoon. She has had her dining room for 15 years and it has always done very well because her customers prefer the flavor of her dishes. In the mornings, María prepares delicious seafood ceviches that her customers love.

This loan is for buying ingredients for preparing her dishes. María has been a member of her communal bank from the start and she likes it because the loans are always very helpful.

María's goals are to continue moving her business forward and to provide her children with a good education.
