Marcelina's story

Marcelina is 63 years old. She was widowed nearly 30 years ago. She lives with a daughter in a house she owns located in a farming area. Marcelina is a hardworking woman. She has tended to her cafe and kiosk for more than 30 years. With the help of her deceased husband, she opened the business, where they began to offer meals. Since then, she became known for her good cooking and friendliness. Over time she set up a space to offer products that visitors from other cities take home such as cheeses, manjar blanco, fruit and other foods.“I like my work because it is relaxing, but to prepare the foods I do have to work harder," she says. Her plans are set: continue with her business in such a way that her savings allow her to have a calm old age. This time she requires some help to acquire merchandise and work normally.

She belongs to the “Progreso Huayounioc” communal bank and this is her 9th loan with MFP. She is a responsible member because makes her payments on time.

With the money, she will acquire merchandise such as fresh cheese, manjar blanco, bizcochos, and breads. She will also buy ingredients to make the foods she sells.
