A loan of $1,175 helped to buy bags of manure.

Fredy's story

27-year old Fredy is a hardworking man. He lives with his parents and his brother Joseph whom he has looked after ever since he was born. Fredy has ten years of experience in agriculture; his parents taught him how to farm the land and look after it well while he was still a young man. When he became an adult he was entrusted by his parents with some of their land. Now he grows corn, potatoes, and peas.

At first he worked in his own fields, but as time passed he negotiated with wholesale buyers to take his crops. Now he also rents productive land in other areas where he grows several hectares of corn. He hopes for good harvests so that he can continue expanding his farm.

"The secret is to spend as much time as possible looking after the crops," he says. This is his third loan with MFP, and he is grateful for the financial support which has helped him earn more money. As well Fredy has increased his working capital and can buy the necessary supplies for his fields. For this reason he promises to be punctual with the repayments. He plans to use the loan to buy bags of manure to spread on the crops and improve the harvest.
