A loan of $500 helped to buy firewood, meat, vegetables, oil, rice, beans etc.

Elba Francisca's story

Elba is from León, but she lives in Estelí. She is a single mother with three children of the ages 23, 30 and 32. She works as a merchant selling food. She says her mom started the business but she always supported her. Later, she decided to take over the business and has been the owner for the past ten years.

This is her first business and it has helped her children be successful. She sells her food in the same community as she lives in. She would like to expand her food at the Estelí Market. She expects to keep working hard in her food stall in order to increase her income.

Elba is requesting the loan in order to buy firewood, meat, vegetables, oil, rice, beans etc. All the necessary ingredients to make food. She believes this loan will help her to buy more supplies for her business and in this way keep her customers satisfied. She expects to increase her profits and her future plans are to invest in ingredients her business does not currently have so that she can offer a greater variety of food to her clients.
