Lydia's story

Lydia lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with two children and one of her children goes to school. She has one additional family member. She sells green bananas at the market on retail basis. She has a motorcycle and this helps her raise additional income. She has been in this business for the last 5 years. She works six days a week.

Lydia has requested a loan of Uganda shillings 1,000,000 from MCDT – SACCO to buy bunches of green bananas. Her major business challenges are transportation and seasonality. Her goals and aspirations are to become a wholesaler and to build rental houses. She lives in her own house and the family has access to electricity but does not have access to piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and food.
