A loan of $725 helped a member to buy inputs for farming and gasoline for water pumping.

Sophat's Group's story

Sophat resides in a rural village of the Moung Russey district, Battambang province. She is aged 46 years and married. She has four children, two of whom are dependents; one is still in school, while the remaining one helps in the family business. To support the family, Sophat and her husband have been in a farming business for six years.

Sophat’s group consists of two members who have been with VisionFund for four loan cycles. Sophat fully paid back her past loans, which have helped her support her family with better living conditions. Now she is leading her group to seek a new loan of KHR 1,400,000, each person. As the leader, Sophat will use her portion of the loan to buy pesticides and fertilizers for her farmland, and to buy gasoline for water pumping. Sophat hopes to get a high yield from her farming business, so as to improve her family’s living conditions and keep their child in school.
