A loan of $475 helped to buy pieces of metal, aluminum irons, and equipment necessary for her metal carpentry work.

Betty's story

Betty, 23 years old, is an honest, hardworking, and above all, responsible young woman. She lives with Cristián and makes a living working alongside him, welding metal doors and windows. Betty and Cristián have a son, and they live together with Betty's brother and sister-in-law and their four children.

Betty works assembling doors, windows, metal staircases, and finding customers that require their services. She has been working in this trade for 3 years. This work results in good earnings for Betty since her city is growing and there is much construction and need for metal carpentry services right now. Her work is lately being contracted from farther and farther way, so Betty recently purchased a large van to transport her work tools: welding torch, metal saw, and other tools. Betty enjoys this work because she loves what she does and she has been very successful in it, getting more and more customers, which keeps her profits growing. She hopes to one day open a metal shop of her own and increase her earnings enough to hire employees and give other people the chance to work as well.

This is Betty's second loan from MFP. She likes working with this banking group because everyone is familiar with each other and looks out for one another. With the loan of 1200 soles, Betty will buy materials such as metal, aluminum irons, and equipment she needs to complete her work in metallic carpentry.
