Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,575 helped to buy groceries in general such as rice, canned foods, sugar, dairy products, etc.

Leonela Tamara's story

Leonela is 27 years old and married. She has 2 children; the older one is 5 years old and the younger one is 3. The older one attends a school near her home. She started a business selling meat 6 years ago, but over time she expanded it, and now it is a shop selling general groceries. Currently, she works alone in her store from Monday through Sunday, from 6 in the morning until 9 in the evening. With the loan, she will buy general groceries such as rice, canned foods, sugar, dairy products, etc. Her goal is to expand her business so that she can offer a better service to her customers and be able to renovate her home.
