A loan of $700 helped to buy pagnes [traditional wrap-around cloth] made using a traditional wax process.

Sanata's story

Sanata was born in 1983 in Koutiala, and has three children. She is her husband's third wife. She did not have the opportunity to continue her studies, but quickly became interested in profit-making activities, particularly the purchase and sale of miscellaneous items: linen, clothing, fabrics, pagnes [traditional wrap-around cloth] made using a traditional wax process, bed linen, etc.

With her 10 years of experience, Sanata is recognized and in great demand among her customers. Having correctly repaid her two previous loans, she has requested a third, which will be used to buy 20 lengths of wax pagnes and other items in Lomé (Togo). Sanata sells on a cash and credit basis, on the street and in the market, and has a varied clientele. She plans to make a monthly income of 100,000 francs CFA, which she will use to repay her loan and help her husband to cover the family's expenses. The rest of the money will be reinvested in her business.
