A loan of $1,950 helped a member to pay school/college fees for his children.

Kadia's Group's story

Pictured here are teachers of a primary school in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to SMT/Kiva lenders to apply for a loan of 8,300,000 Sierra Leone Leones for the entire group. With the help of this loan, they can meet certain financial challenges that cannot be met with their salaries alone. And at the end of each month, they repay the loan, using their monthly salaries. Their school’s bursar is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf.

Khalie is the featured leader of this group of teachers. The 42-year-old is a native of Rokupr village, in Northern Sierra Leone. He is married to a teacher and the couple has 5 children who are attending primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. Khalie has been in the teaching profession for 17 years now. He has requested this loan in order to pay school/college fees for his children.
