A loan of $100 helped a member to buy materials to build a decent latrine.

Sophorn's Group's story

Sophorn, 29, is married with three dependent children, one of whom is still in school. She lives in a rural area of Kandal province's Kandal Stoeng district, Cambodia. Rice farming and vegetables planting have been her main sources of income for three years. The current business earns her approximately US $6 per day to meet her family's needs.

Sophorn's group, of which she is the leader, consists of two members who live in the same village. She is a first-time borrower with VisionFund. Now she and her group members are applying for a loan of 160,000 KHR each. She is going to use her portion to buy materials to build a decent latrine such as a latrine bowl, tile draining etc. Sophorn hopes this loan will enable her family to have a healthy latrine to improve her family's standard of living.
