A loan of $575 helped to buy 10 sacks of organic fertilizer.

Oscar's story

Oscar, 41, is a widower. He has six children aged 18, 15, 12, 10, 9 and 8. They live in their own home, located in an indigenous community in the central jungle. Oscar is cheerful and responsible. Ever since his wife died, he's devoted himself to the feeding and education of their children.

This is the reason that Oscar works very hard in the fields, so that he can support his large family. He has 7 parcels of land where he grows coffee, achiote, and citrus such as oranges and limes.

Now he has a whole lot that he has recently renewed, or re-planted, with coffee. He will have to wait at least 3 years until this coffee plantation offers up its first beans. Oscar will care for these plants with patience and dedication.

This month, he has to plant some beans and a bit of corn, which he will be able to harvest next year. To do this, he needs support so that he can acquire sacks of organic fertilizer for these crops. This is his 4th loan with MFP, and he promises to make his payments on time. Also, he says that he feels very comfortable in his communal bank Productores de Inchatingari,” because the members are supportive and responsible. With the 1,500 Peruvian soles he requests, he will be able to buy 10 sacks of organic fertilizer, and he will also be able to pay farmhands to help him with this activity.
