A loan of $575 helped to buy bags of organic fertilizer.

Elena's story

Elena, 37, lives with Michael, with whom she has three children. She lives with only one of them, in their own house in a native community in the central jungle.

Elena's a persistent woman who makes a living in agriculture alongside her partner. "Since I was 17 I've worked in the fields and I like my job," she says. On her three plots of land she produces coffee, ginger, citrus fruits such as oranges and tangerines, and beans. The coffee and ginger harvests are once a year, and they're profitable for her because she makes a good profit, which helps her cover her expenses, save, and invest again. She gets enough from the citrus fruits and beans to cover her basic and daily expenses. This is how Elena works, and she likes to work outside in her hills.

This time she's going to fertilize and weed the crops, for which she needs your help. This is her second loan with MFP. She also mentions that this time she'll make the monthly payments punctually. She belongs to Los Clavelitos de Shankivironi Communal Bank, and she's comfortable working with responsible members.

She'll invest the 1500 soles [PEN] in bags of organic fertilizer to spread on her coffee, ginger, and citrus crops.
