A loan of $275 helped to buy bags of organic fertilizers.

Lucy's story

Lucy is 30 years old and a single mother. She has one child who is 9 years old, who she cares for lovingly. The live in a house made of rustic material, but it is her own. Lucy is an exemplary mother. All of her efforts are for the good of her family, especially for her young son. She is involved in agriculture and grows coffee. "I have three pieces of land where I just grow coffee," she said.

In addition, she varies her production with the cultivation of yucca, plantains, and citrus. The resulting profit from each planting is enough to acquire seeds and organic fertilizers, and she says that her crops have been larger and larger because of her increasing profits. She says that the primary problem is the lack of working capital to have better production, but she is doing it slowly.

These months are the time when she is busiest working on her coffee care, cleaning and trimming, and spreading fertilizers, but what she can do is not enough, and therefore, she is asking for your support.

One of her goals is to become a large scale agriculturalist, for which she works with dedication. This is her fourth loan with MFP. She promises to pay her loan back punctually, just as with her previous loans. “Los Clavelitos de Shankivironi” is the name of her communal banking group, and she feels happy to work with these responsible group members. With this money, she will be able to acquire bags of organic fertilizers for her coffee crops and some for the yucca as well.
