Houssam is a 38 year old married, Lebanese man. He lives with his wife and two children at their modest house located in one of the beautiful villages of Lebanon. His children are still attending school.
Houssam has spent many years solving home electricity problems. He works independently on a free-lance basis. He has always wanted to expand his business and improve his work. At the moment, however, he earns quite a basic income; this is why he decided to take out a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase new tools and supplies for his electrical business.
He confirms that the loan will help him take on bigger projects and thus increase his income by 15%. And, as Houssam works independently, he wishes to have his own electrical equipment shop as soon as possible, in order to keep on responding to his client’s problems and therefore cover his family's needs.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
