A loan of $875 helped to buy pants, blouses, t-shirts and children's clothing to sell.

Gabriela Josefina's story

The communal bank "El Pedregal" meets every fifteen days in the El Pedregal community, in the Picoaza parish of the city of Portoviejo. This is a place known for being an active commercial zone, for its traditional festivals of San Pedro and San Pablo, and for the cheerfulness of its people.

In this place lives Gabriela, who is 25 years old. She is separated, but from this relationship she has two children, 7 and 6 years old, who are both in school.

With the intention of earning something on her own, and thus being able to get ahead alone with her children, Gabriela dedicates herself to commerce, selling clothing of all types. Her method of selling is from door to door, and she also sells from her home where she has a small shop. She takes advantage of the opportunity to go out every morning, since at this time her children are in school. She sells to her customes on credit and collects payments every fifteen days. She goes to Guayaquil to buy her merchandise once a month or according to her needs. She has dedicated herself to this work for 5 years, and it is going very well for her. Thanks to this she is successfully supporting her children alone.

She will use this loan to buy more merchandise, such as pants, blouses, t-shirts and children's clothing. She has been in the communal bank for 4 years, and she likes it because of the help it provides to her with the loans.

Her dream is that her children will not lack for anything.
