A loan of $600 helped to buy fabric and thread in greater amounts at lower prices to use in her business.

Tesalia's story

Tesalia, 44 years old, is a hardworking woman, enterprising, happy, and eager to get ahead. She is married to William who is a police officer and father of her son, José, who is 15 years old. They live together comfortably in a house that was purchased with the joint effort of her husband.

Tesalia works in sewing, a craft she learned helping a friend in her workshop. With her earnings she managed to buy her own sewing machine, beginning that way in this business, and during ten years she has become well known and her business has grown.

Currently she has hired a friend as a helper, paying her by piecework. She considers her business profitable because of the good earnings that it gives her, and that helps her support her husband with the household expenses.

She would like to expand her business, installing more machines and opening a large workshop where she could assist her customers, knowing that she could generate better income and also give employment to other people.

This will be her 10th loan through MFP. She likes her work with the communal bank. She feels comfortable and at ease. “I hope to continue enjoying the support of the institution,” she comments, and she will be punctual making her payments.

With the borrowed amount of 1500 soles, she will buy sewing materials such as fabric and thread in greater amounts at lower prices, thus giving her higher earnings.
