A loan of $1,000 helped to buy cattle for resale, since he only has $600 dollars from the sale of his horse and he needs more to expand his business..

Joaquín Chicas's story

Joaquín is 32 years old, married, and has one child. He has been buying and selling cattle for one year. Before, he used to work in agriculture. He went into this business to show his father a better way of life. To purchase cattle, he travels by foot to different cantons and neighborhoods walking many kilometers through rural lands to find a good deal given that there is no transportation to these areas, except by animals and mules.

The loan requested to Fundación Campo [MFI] is to buy cattle for resale, since he only has $600 dollars from the sale of his horse and he needs more to expand his business. With the increased earnings, he can support his six-month old son and wife. Currently, he has a house that is not in very good condition because it is very small and serves as storage space for the inputs required to care for the cattle. He wants to build a house with the proper divisions so that his family is more comfortable.
