A loan of $550 helped to buy toys.

Elsa María's story

Elsa’s a member of the “El Crédito” communal bank and this is the third loan she’s taken. She lives in the city of Cuenca’s Don Bosco sector. This is a cold-weather city and because of its fractured topography it has great places to enjoy nature’s scenery. Its city center blends colonial and modern and its residents still retain their culture and traditions.

Elsa’s 25-years-old, married and has a two-year-old daughter. Her husband works as a laborer and they own the house they live in. Elsa works Monday through Friday selling toys, an activity she’s been doing since she was very young since she learned it from her mother. She works with no fixed schedule and spends the rest of her time at home caring for her daughter. She will use her new loan to buy toys to increase her merchandise. Her goal is to finish her house and to buy a car.
