A loan of $975 helped to buy potatoes and chickens as well as tables and chairs.

Alicia's story

Alicia is 50 years old. She is a hard and dedicated worker, with a strong desire to get ahead. She lives with her partner, Evaristo, who works in sales. Together they have five children and they live together in their own home. Alicia makes a living selling fast food, like hotdogs with french fries and chicken with french fries. For this business everyday she sets up her fryer, tables and chairs, in a space set aside for this in her home. Close to her home there are streets that are very busy. She considers her business to be profitable because it gives her good income. She likes her business because it generates income to cover household costs and to help her husband. However, it is tiring to have to set up and take down her sales stand everyday, but this does not discourage her and she has the desire to continue working. She also said that she has plans to expand her sales space to be able to fit more table and chairs, which will allow her to attend to more customers.

This will be the 15th loan she has taken out through MFP. She is very thankful to be able to have a small loan, which allows her to reach her goals. She is happy with her communal bank because she can see that it is a united group and she hopes they will continue in the same way. With the amount of 2500 nuevos soles that she has requested, she will invest in buying tables and chairs, as well as the ingredients for her fast food, like potatoes and chicken, at wholesale so that she can get a better price.
