A loan of $525 helped to buy bricks, cement, sand, metal sheeting and to pay labor costs.

Aura Luz's story

Achuapa’s a town located 110 kilometers from León Department; it’s surrounded by green, flower covered mountains where the delicious ‘rosquillas’ [donut-shaped cookies] are made; it’s one of the main activities and they are made from cheese and sweets. Aura Luz is very proud to be from this humble town because people of scarce resources live here who strive daily to get ahead doing whatever activity that generates income to survive.

She has worked as a teacher for more than twenty years. She rises very early every morning to walk 20 kilometers to reach Los Hornos which is where the school is located where she teaches all the children from said district. To meet her work schedule, she leaves at 5am because there is no vehicular access and it’s reached only by foot.

She’s asking KIVA through Ceprodel for a loan to buy bricks, cement, sand and metal sheeting and to pay labor costs to finish building a room.
