A loan of $2,275 helped to provide coffee crop maintenance and pay labor costs.

Gonzalo's story

Gonzalo has worked in the fields since he was little. He started when he was 10-years-old helping his father grow sugarcane and when Gonzalo turned fifteen his father started growing coffee and that’s how he learned everything related to this crop. Gonzalo is currently 54-years-old and married to María; they have 7 children. Gonzalo and María have been growing coffee since they were married and need a loan for the next harvest to do the weeding and crop maintenance as well as to pay day laborers to pick the coffee beans. Gonzalo is doing the necessary work to convert his entire production into organic coffee and all he needs now is the certification. In addition to growing coffee, Gonzalo has also been selling nutritional products via catalogue for ten years, an activity that’s produced extra family income.
