A loan of $500 helped to buy a freezer.

Fatoumata Sidi's story

Mrs. FATOUMATA SIDI is 41 years old, married, and the mother of six children. She lives in a nuclear family in the Hamdallaye B district of Ségou.
She did not attend school because her parents saw schooling for girls as socially immoral. Early on, she earned money by doing work such as selling smoked fish alongside her older brother. With several years of experience, she is managing, on her own, sales of smoked fish, ice cream, fruit juices, fresh fish, and empty barrels. She has been conducting this business of selling various articles for 15 years and enjoys considerable success and a large clientele.

In the hopes of increasing her working capital and making better profits, she is requesting this new loan. She has been working with Soro Yiriwaso for 12 months. With her first loan having been fully repaid, she is on her second individual loan which she plans to use to buy a freezer for the fruit juices. She gets her supplies locally.

Madame Fatoumata Sidi sells for cash, at retail, and on credit to a mixed clientele. With this loan she plans to make an average monthly benefit of 45,000 FCFA. This loan will allow her to pay back her loans and to take care of her 93 year old mother.
